Blueheel Kids Ballroom Summer Dance Program:

Summer is a great time to be a kid. School’s out and the fun begins. And that’s our approach for the Summer Kids Dance Program. Whether you’re looking for something new and creative to keep you kid active & busy or  just exploring a new avenues and meeting new friends, this is the place to be.

The kids’s summer dance approach is fun, vibrant and engaging, focussing on the more active Latin Dances like Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue, Swing and Samba.

Kids will explore the different dance patters, rhythms and musicality.

Costs: $99.00 per month (July or August 2013)

          $150 for both months (July & August 2013)

Mississauga: Mondays 6:15pm | Wednesdays 6:15pm

Oakville: Wednesdays 5:15pm | Saturday 11:00am

Besides the obvious health and exercise benefits from increased levels of physical activity, dance is a wonderful way for children to explore their intrinsically curious and creative natures.  It builds confidence in themselves and their self expression, but by the end of the program they have discovered a new found sense of self esteem and a strong sense of achievement and made a whole load of new friends!

Canadian Dancers receive ONE of only eight INVITATIONS IN THE WORLD to prestigious International Blackpool Dance Festival in U.K.

Meteoric rise of Canadian Showdance Champions from Toronto boosts Canada’s reputation for producing some of the finest world-class dancers.

Toronto, Ontario. April 15^th,  2013. Carlos Zapata and Dora Yaneva, Canadian 2013 Showdance Champions have been invited by the Blackpool Dance Festival Organizers to compete in this year’s World Championship Dance Competition held from May 23^rd – June 1^st at the famous Winter Gardens in Blackpool, U.K.

The 8-day Blackpool Dance Festival is the world’s first and most famous annual ballroom dance competition of international significance. Started in 1920, this will be the 87^th year for the event, which now attracts over 2,800 entries from over 60 countries.

“Obviously, Dora and I are thrilled to receive the invitation.” Says Carlos Zapata. “The Blackpool competition is considered the Olympics of the dance world and to win in any of the events is like winning gold. We are honored to be able to represent Canada on the world stage.”

Zapata is the President of one of Toronto’s top Latin & Ballroom Studios, Love to Dance. Zapata and Yaneva both instruct at the studio and have had individual dance careers for over 15 years but only started dancing together as competition partners three years ago.  To advance so quickly is testimony to their individual talent, tough dance discipline and hard work. The couple is the 2013 Canadian Champion in the Showdance Division and currently rank number two in the world.

“As in any competitive sport, dance demands hours of training, commitment and support” says Yaneva. “We are particularly proud of how the dance community has come together to support us as indicated by the kick off we are organizing.”

Zapata and Yaneva have pulled together a spectacular all-Canadian cast of Latin & Ballroom Champions and top performers at their Dirty Dancing Show on May 5^th held at Famee Furlane to showcase the incredible home talent we have in this city and create greater awareness and support of the discipline.
